Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers have made it all the way back to the final stage of the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs. After outlasting the Los Angeles Kings in the first round, the Vegas Golden Knights in the second round and the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference final, the Oilers are set to meet their tormentors in the 2024 NHL finals, with the Florida Panthers also advancing to the final round.
This is a golden opportunity for McDavid to hit two birds with one stone, as he aims to exact revenge on the Panthers and win his first-ever Stanley Cup title.
The three-time Hart Memorial Trophy winner seems ready for the challenge of facing Florida anew.
“Moving on ➡️,” McDavid wrote in a post that featured a slide of photos during and after the Oilers series versus the Stars.
McDavid has been sensational in the first three rounds of the 2025 NHL playoffs, during which he collected a total of 26 points on the strength of six goals and 20 assists.
Alongside fellow Hart Memorial Trophy winner Leon Draisaitl, McDavid has been effective as usual on the ice for Edmonton’s offense, which is averaging 4.06 goals per game in the playoffs – the best in the league.
The Panthers, on the other hand, present excellent defense, thanks in large part to the presence of Sergei Bobrovsky between the pipes.
As a team, the Panthers enter the Stanley Cup Final with a 2.29 goals against average in the playoffs.
