Could the Oilers revive the Samuel Montembeault deal?

Samuel Montembeault is still with the Canadiens organization.

It's not because Kent Hughes didn't try to trade him—quite the opposite. Louis Jean recently stated that the Canadiens had “done everything” to trade him.

But that doesn't mean the club wants to give him away or trade him at a discount.

It's not too late to trade him, and it's reasonable to think that, if the right opportunity arises, the Canadiens' GM will be able to send him elsewhere.

But for that to happen, an opportunity will be needed.

For example, when the Blue Jackets had injuries in goal, the Quebec native's name was mentioned in Ohio. He's easier to acquire than a Connor Hellebuyck or a Jordan Binnington, for instance.

And now, following the situation with Frederik Andersen (he'll miss training camp and could miss a few weeks of action early in the season) in Edmonton, the Canadiens' goaltender's name has resurfaced in public discussions.
