This afternoon USA Hockey announced their roster for the upcoming summer showcase for this winters World Junior team and Calgary Flames prospect, Cullen Potter, will be joining the team when the camp kicks off at the end of this month.
Potter was selected 32nd overall by the Flames in this years draft and as a freshman at Arizona State University, he made a very strong impression in his first year in the NCAA. As one of the youngest players in all of college hockey, Potter posted 13 goals and 22 points in 35 games while being one of the team’s most relied on skaters.
His speed and puck skills were just a few of the factors that really stood out this past season and was a big reason as to why he was a first round pick. Now, with much more experience under his belt, Potter will have an opportunity to hopefully stand out to those running the defending champions at the World Juniors to make the team.
The Summer Showcase is just the first step in getting a invite back when main camps open up at the end of November, so if Potter can have a good performance, he may be well on his way to earning a spot on Team USA for this years tournament.
