Dallas Stars Acquire Tyler Myers

After much speculation, a Tyler Myers trade has come to fruition. He is heading to the Dallas Stars. Tyler Myers nearly joined the Detroit Red Wings last week, but he chose a different destination. The Vancouver Canucks discussed a deal with Detroit, and many insiders expected Myers to approve it. However, Myers controlled the situation because his contract includes a no-move clause. He declined the Detroit option and instead agreed to join the Dallas Stars.

The Vancouver Canucks will receive a 2027 second-round pick and a 2029 fourth-round pick from the Dallas Stars. Vancouver will also retain 50% of Tyler Myers’ contract, which equals $1.5 million. Myers, this season in 57 games, has eight points on a goal and seven assists. He has a -25 rating with 91 blocked shots and 65 total hits. The Stars add a piece they clearly needed after several of their defensemen missed time this season. Now they have another piece back there as they look to make a deep run in the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
