Detroit Red Wings Place Six on Waivers

The Detroit Red Wings will play the second game of a back-to-back as they’ll face the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight. They’re coming off a 1-0 shootout loss to the Blue Jackets last night. Ahead of tonight’s game the Red Wings placed six players on waivers, four forwards and two defensemen. The four forwards are Sheldon Dries, John Leonard, Cameron Butler, and Dominik Shine. The defensemen are Jacob Bryson, William Lagesson.

Dries, Leonard, Shine, and Bryson all played in last night’s game. Dries had 14:58 TOI, blocking a shot and recording a hit. Leonard had 14:13 TOI recording two shots on goal a blocked shot and a takeaway. Shine had 11:25 TOI with a shot on goal, seven penalty minutes and a hit. Bryson had 18:55 TOI with a shot on goal, a blocked shot, and two penalty minutes.

Assuming all six clear waivers they will report to the Grand Rapids Griffins in the AHL. Leonard made an appearance with Detroit last season appearing in 11 games recording two goals and two assists. He also finished second in the AHL in goals with 33 last season and tied for the league lead in shorthanded goals with five.
