Adding Hamonic to the blue line will give the Red Wings depth and an experienced player to help with the defensive youth on this team.

The 34-year-old, six-foot 195 lb defenseman is entering his 15th career season. He’s played with the New York Islanders, Calgary Flames, Vancouver Canucks, and Ottawa Senators. The Islanders drafted him 53rd overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He has played 900 career games: 444 with the Islanders, 201 with the Senators, 193 with the Flames, and 62 with the Canucks.He has 242 points on 53 goals and 189 assists. He is a career -26 with six power-play goals, two shorthanded goals, four game-winning goals, 1,380 hits, 1,765 blocked shots, and 774 penalty minutes. In 22 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, he has four points on a goal and three assists. He has a minus-ten rating, with 58 blocked shots, 51 hits, and 33 penalty minutes.
