The New Jersey Devils acquired defenseman Brian Dumoulin in a trade with the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday, receiving a conditional second-round 2025 draft pick and prospect Herman Traff in exchange.

The Devils can use depth on the back end with defenseman Dougie Hamilton sidelined week-to-week due to a lower-body injury.

Dumoulin, 33, had 16 points (two goals, 14 assists) in 61 games during his first season with the Ducks. He is a pending unrestricted free agent.

A two-time Stanley Cup winner with Pittsburgh, Dumoulin has totaled 171 points (27 goals, 144 assists) in 687 career games with the Penguins (2013-23), Seattle Kraken (2023-24) and Ducks (2024-25).

Traff, 19, is currently playing in his native Sweden. The forward was selected by the Devils in the third round of the 2024 NHL Draft.
