Ducks provide injury updates for three players

The team didn’t specify when Poehling and Moore were hurt. For Poehling, injury news isn’t something he wants to hear, given how things went last spring. During Game 5 of the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Poehling was nailed with a late hit from Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Brayden McNabb. Poehling left the game and didn’t return for the rest of the series, which saw the Ducks get eliminated in the next contest. McNabb was suspended for that game after receiving a major penalty for the act.

It was a shame, as Poehling was proving to be a solid asset for Anaheim in the postseason. The former St. Cloud State star had scored four goals and five points in 11 games before the injury, including a controversial game-winning goal against the Edmonton Oilers in the opening round. Poehling posted a career-best 36 points during the regular season, earning him a four-year contract extension in March.

For Moore, the timeline doesn’t bode well for the start of the regular season. With the Ducks set to open the 2026-27 campaign on Oct. 2 against the Golden Knights, there’s a great chance that he might not be in the lineup for Game 1 and could miss the first several games of the season. The 24-year-old is coming off his first full season of pro hockey, much of which was spent with the Ducks. Along with appearing in four games for the San Diego Gulls, Anaheim’s American Hockey League affiliate, Moore scored four goals and 12 points in 67 games, registering a plus/minus of -14 while averaging 13:40 of ice time. He also scored a goal in 10 games during the playoffs.

Traff is set to play his first full season in North America. The 2024 third-round pick joined the Gulls late last season after posting a respectable 41 points in 51 games for IK Oskarshamn of HockeyAllsvenskan in Sweden. The 20-year-old didn’t post a point in three games with San Diego, the team he’s expected to start the new season out with this fall.
