Shortly before a thrilling comeback victory over the Calgary Flames on Wednesday night, thanks to their young stars, the Anaheim Ducks signed another young prospect, Carey Terrance, to a three-year entry-level contract. The 59th overall pick in 2023 will begin his professional career in the 2025-26 season.
Terrance is the captain of the Ontario Hockey League’s Erie Otters and will conclude his career with the club after three seasons. He has scored 89 goals and 73 assists, including a personal best 29 goals and 23 assists in 56 games in 2023-24. He has also achieved remarkable international success, including back-to-back World Junior Championship gold with Team USA in 2024 and 2025, and another gold medal at the U18 World Championship in 2023.
Terrance will join a crowded prospect room at the Ducks training camp in Septermber and seems destined for at least a season in the American Hockey League with the San Diego Gulls, which features the next wave of Ducks prospects like Sasha Pastujov, Nathan Gaucher, Tristan Luneau, Stian Solberg, Yegor Sidorov, and Tyson Hinds.
It’s too early to predict where he’ll end up, but the Ducks have drafted well in recent seasons, and Terrance gives them another young option to fill out the roster in seasons to come.
