The Adirondack Thunder have acquired forward Daniel Amesbury from the Utah Grizzlies in exchange for cash considerations. Amesbury, 35, has seven penalties in his only game this season with the Grizzlies. This is a massive signing as they get an enforcer who will have one job and one job only, and that is to drop the gloves and throw big hits. Amesbury will take the pressure off of guys like Kishaun Gervais and Jacob Graves who have been providing most of the physicality for the Thunder this season.

The Maple Ridge, British Columbia native has played in 47 ECHL games with the Fort Wayne Komets, Kansas City Mavericks, and Utah Grizzlies, where he has an assist along with 230 PIMs. He also saw time in the league when it was the CHL. Prior to playing in the ECHL, Amesbury spent parts of two seasons in the FPHL with the Danbury Hat Tricks. In 38 games with Danbury, he had three goals and eight assists for 11 points along with 370 PIMS. He led the FPHL in penalty minutes during the 2022-23 season, the same season the Hat Tricks won the Commissioner’s Cup. Amersbury had a goal in five games during the playoffs.

Earlier in his career, he played in the SPHL with the Columbus Cottonmouths, where he had seven goals and three assists for 10 points along with 462 PIMS in 64 games. During the 2011-12 season, he led the league in PIMS as the Cottonmouths captured the SPHL Championship.
