The Adirondack Thunder will get some much-needed reinforcements, as Tag Bertuzzi, Dylan Wendt, Luke Reid, and Henry Welsch have all been assigned to Adirondack. Additionally, defenseman Mitchell Becker has been signed to an ECHL contract after signing a PTO with the Thunder on April 6th.

Dylan Wendt– The Grand Haven, Michigan, native spent the last three weeks with Utica, where he appeared in seven games and put up one assist. In 19 games this season with the Comets, he has three assists. During his time with Adirondack this season, he has seven goals and 11 assists for 18 points in 27 games. Expect Wendt to find his way back into the top six for the Thunder this weekend.
Tag Bertuzzi- This is probably the biggest addition to the Thunder as Bertuzzi and Brannon McManus have been the dynamic duo for the Adirondack this season. During his latest stint in Utica, Bertuzzi played in three games. He’s played in 14 games with the Comets this season, but hasn’t found the scoresheet. In 35 games with the Thunder, he’s put up 14 goals and 12 assists for 26 points.
Luke Reid- The 24-year-old defenseman was the only skater out of the three who didn’t see time during his two-week stint with Utica. In 57 games this season with the Thunder, Reid has put up three goals and 16 assists for 19 points. With Reid returning to the Thunder lineup, don’t be shocked if Ryan Helliwell or Conner Hutchison becomes the odd man out, as Mitchell Becker has started to find himself a role on the Thunder blueline.
Henry Welsch– It’s been an interesting year for Welsch, who was brought in as Adirondack’s third goaltender and didn’t get his first and only start this year until March 14th, when he stopped 23 of 27 shots against the Wheeling Nailers. During his time on a PTO with the Comets, he served as the backup. I would expect Welsch to possibly get the nod on Sunday if the Thunder has already locked in their seeding.
Becker, 24, has played in three games with the Thunder and hasn’t found the scoresheet but has found other ways to make an impact with Adirondack. The Rogers, Minnesota, native has not been afraid to throw his body around and adds size to the Thunder blueline.
“We’re just glad he’s a big body. Simple game, he defends well and he’s big and heavy and he hasn’t played in a month so that’s why we kept him out of the lineup when he first got here”
