The ECHL Department of Player Safety has suspended Allen Americans defenseman Andre Anania for Game 5 of the Mountain Division Semifinals and fined him an undisclosed amount for his actions in Game 4. At the 5:23 mark of the third period, Anania would deliver a slash to the back of Idaho’s Kaleb Pearson, and then another cross-check to Pearson after he was already on the ice. During the regular season, he had six goals and 36 assists for 42 points in 66 games. He has a goal and two assists for three points in the first four games of the Kelly Cup Playoffs.

Anania would be assessed a minor for slashing, a minor for cross-checking, along with a game misconduct for other infractions (23.9). This comes after Anania sprayed a fan with water while in a penalty box. Anania also had beer spilled on him by a fan. Rule 23.9 states that the following can result in a game misconduct: Interfering with or striking a spectator, post-game verbal abuse from players, goalkeepers, or non-playing club personnel (on or off the ice), using language, taunts, or gestures that are deemed discriminatory or derogatory in nature including race, gender, religion, and sexual orientation, spitting on or at an opponent or spectator.
