Trois-Rivières Lions goaltender Benjamin Gaudreau is heading to the NCAA to join Clarkson University for the 2026-27 season. We saw this start to happen last summer, and since then, we’ve seen a handful of players decide to go back to school. In 29 games last season with the Lions, Gaudreau put up a 9-13-4 record with a 2.92 GAA, .897SV%, and one shutout. Prior to joining the Lions, he spent his rookie season in the Chicago Blackhawks organization. He would spend the majority of the season with the Indy Fuel, where he went 21-16-3 with a 2.46 GAA, .902SV%, and three shutouts in 43 games. Gaudreau also saw four games at the AHL level with the Rockford IceHogs, posting a 2-2 record with a 3.19 GAA and .868SV%.
The third-round draft pick of the San Jose Sharks in 2021, he played five seasons in the OHL before going pro. The North Bay, Ontario native spent his first four seasons in the OHL with the Sarnia Sting, where he put up a 54-43-10 record along with a 3.60 GAA, .890SV%, and three shutouts in 117 games. He would go 12-9 with a 2.55 GAA, .910SV%, and three shutouts in 22 OHL playoff games with the Sting. During his final season in the OHL, he posted a 20-11-2 record with a 3.29 GAA and a .890 SV% in 34 games with the Erie Otters. He went 1-0-3 with a 3.16 GAA and .899SV% in four playoff games with the Otters.
