The Iowa Heartlanders have announced that they have signed 5’11” forward Grant Ahcan from St. Cloud State University.

Collegiate Career

The Savage, Minnesota native spent all four of his collegiate seasons at St. Cloud State, playing in 114 games. During his time with the Huskies, Ahcan had 14 goals and 19 assists for 33 points with 51 penalty minutes and a -1. He also served as a captain for the Huskies in the 2025-26 season.

Junior Career

Prior to joining the Huskies, Ahcan spent the 2021-22 season in the USHL playing with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, serving as an alternate captain. He registered 12 goals and 13 assists for 25 points in 61 games. Ahcan also had 45 penalty minutes and a -4.

Ahcan started his junior career in the NAHL with the Bismarck Bobcats the season prior. In 45 games with the Bobcats, he had nine goals and seven assists for 16 points with 47 penalty minutes and a +3.

Grant Ahcan is a forward who can add both on and off the ice. On the ice, Ahcan brings a lot of grit and leadership. While at St. Cloud, he was not always on the score sheet, but he would help get the team pumped up and energized. He is not afraid to flip to the defensive side and block a few pucks. In his senior season with the Huskies, Ahcan had 21 blocked shots, including four on February 7, 2026, against Arizona State.

Ahcan can play a very physical game as well, which could fit in extremely well in the ECHL. Off ice, Ahcan brings a lot of leadership with the energy he can provide in the locker room.

Ahcan is the younger brother of Jack Ahcan and Roman Ahcan. Jack currently plays with the Colorado Eagles and Roman is with the Cleveland Monsters, both in the AHL.
