ECHL:  Kirill Tyutyayev Heads Overseas

Tyutyayev spent the past two seasons with Fort Wayne, appearing in 103 regular-season games. During that span, he recorded 30 goals and 61 assists for 91 points and 36 penalty minutes. Including playoff appearances, he played 128 games for the Komets, producing 109 points on 36 goals and 73 assists.

The Detroit Red Wings selected the Yekaterinburg, Russia, native with the 190th overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft’s seventh round. Before joining Fort Wayne, Tyutyayev spent two seasons in the Red Wings’ minor-league system, appearing in 39 games for the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League.

His professional career began overseas, where he primarily played in Russia’s second-highest league. Tyutyayev also spent the 2020-2021 season with Yunost Minsk in Belarus, helping the club win a league championship before moving to North America.

Over two years in Fort Wayne, he became one of the team’s most reliable players and finished his Komets career averaging nearly one point per game. He is now the eighth player from the Komets to head overseas, joining Josh Atkinson, Matt Brown, Austin Magera, William Dufour, Harrison Rees, and Blake Murray. His departure leaves Fort Wayne with another proven scorer to replace as preparations continue for the franchise’s 75th anniversary season.
