Edmonton Oilers Linked to Veteran Goalie in Mock Trade With Capitals

The Oilers have been linked to many goalie changes this off-season, and now a new mock trade sees them land Capitals veteran Charlie Lindgren.

The Edmonton Oilers have been knocking on the door of a Stanley Cup for the past few seasons, but there's been a few things holding them back, and the biggest of all has been their goaltending.

In the regular season, the duo of Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard is solid enough to get them into the post-season, but when things matter the most, it's clear that neither are good enough to win the Stanley Cup.

Another mock trade sees the Oilers upgrade in net

Unsurprisingly, there's been plenty of mock trades this off-season to see the Oilers upgrade in net, and while they've not made a move as of yet, we've now got another potential deal to look at.

This latest one comes from The Sporting News, as they have this time seen the Oilers target veteran Charlie Lindgren of the Washington Capitals, a team that already have a star in Alberta native Logan Thompson.

Edmonton receives: Charlie Lindgren

Washington receives: Calvin Pickard, 2027 5th rounder, 2028 3rd rounder

On paper, this is a small deal that could be a big upgrade for the Oilers, as they don't give up a first or second round pick to land a talented goaltender that has a GAA of 2.68 over 89 games in the past two seasons.

Ultimately, the team may be eyeing off a much bigger upgrade than Lindgren, but if they can't afford that, than a deal like this would certainly represent an improvement on the goaltending room they've got now.
