Top NHL analyst Elliotte Friedman is linking 6'6' Golden Knights defenseman Nic Hague to the Philadelphia Flyers, who recently introduced coach Rick Tocchet.
The Philadelphia Flyers have already made a major change in leadership, terminating coach John Tortorella near the end of the regular season and replacing him with assistant coach Brad Shaw on an interim basis.
They've since hired coach Rick Tocchet as their new full-time head coach, signalling a change in direction for the franchise that has now missed the postseason for the last several years.
The summer work for Flyers general manager Daniel Briere has begun, and they're already being linked to a towering blue line figure currently with the Vegas Golden Knights.
Hague has already finished his 3-year contract, which paid him an AAV (average annual value) of $2,294,150, and is reportedly on the verge of being moved. Are the Flyers going to come calling?
Per top NHL analyst Elliotte Friedman, the Flyers have been linked to Hague in recent trade talks.
Hague, who was taken with the 34th overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft, has played his entire NHL career with the Golden Knights and had 12 points (5G, 7A) in 68 games this year. He was also a member of the squad that won the Stanley Cup in 2023.
The Golden Knights have multiple young defensive prospects waiting in the wings to make an impact in the NHL, including Kaedan Korczak and Lukas Cormier.
Additionally, Vegas could choose not to re-sign Hague to have more salary to make a potential run at pending Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner.
