The CN Tower in Toronto is going full Oilers mode tonight by lighting up in orange and blue colors, as Edmonton remains Canada's last standing team.
The Edmonton Oilers are once again the country's burden-bearers, and this time they have an unconventional new friend: the CN Tower.
With the Oilers facing the Florida Panthers in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final Wednesday evening, one of Toronto's landmarks is getting into game mode.
The official X account for the CN Tower announced that it will be lit up in blue and orange, the colours of the Oilers, as puck drop gets closer.

Seeing a Toronto icon root for an Edmonton team will raise eyebrows, but this time it's for a good reason. No Canadian club has hoisted the Stanley Cup since 1993, and the Oilers are Canada's best hope this season.
Across Canada, there are fans putting aside regional loyalty in hopes of seeing the Cup back in the north for the first time in many years.
This is not the CN Tower's first hot-button decision. In 2021, it lit up in Montreal Canadiens' colors just days after the Habs kicked the Maple Leafs out of the playoffs, a choice that didn't sit so well with Leafs fans in Toronto.
'Tonight the CNTower will be lit red, blue, and white for the CanadiensMTL who will go on to represent Canada's hope for a 2021 NHL Stanley Cup!'- CN Tower
Despite this, the CN Tower is more than an icon for Toronto. Not only is it North America's tallest free-standing structure, but it's also a symbol of Canada, and this time, it's becoming a bit nationalistic.
For Connor McDavid and the Oilers, the message could not be more clear: this is not Edmonton's time, it's Canada's.
