Now that the NHL Draft is complete and we’re about to hit free agency, it’s also time for an annual rite of summer: the Calgary Flames’ development camp at Winsport.
This year’s camp features a smaller roster and a more streamlined on-ice segment, with the camp having two days of on-ice sessions (July 2 & 3) at Winsport and things seem more like an orientation camp with some on-ice instead of an extensive week of drills and scrimmages.
24 players are attending camp, down from 38 last year. They’ve invited 4 goaltenders, 7 defencemen and 13 forwards.

Defencemen:
Forwards:
It’s essentially everybody from the last three draft classes, except for Sam Honzek (who’s already playing pro hockey), Jaden Lipinski (who’s been to a few of these already), Eric Jamieson and Kirill Zarubin.
Players attending from outside of those three draft classes are the two goalies that just signed, Owen Say and Arsenii Sergeev, plus invites Jordan Switzer and Isa Parekh.
Players will be split into six groups for a bit of on-ice work on Wednesday and Thursday at Winsport. Ice times on both days are 9:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. We’ll have more information on the on-ice groups as they become available.
