After a feisty Rookie Battle of Alberta in Edmonton on Friday, the Oilers and Flames will play the second half of their Next Gen Showcase on Sunday afternoon in Calgary.

The Oilers fell by a score of 6-5 to their provincial rivals a couple of nights ago, but there were a few standout performances from the home side that impressed the crowd in Edmonton. Top prospect Matt Savoie led the way with two goals, Connor Clattenburg scored a goal and fought twice, and off-season free agent addition Viljami Marjala drove play all game.

After Sunday’s game in Calgary, the Oilers will have one more skate with their rookie camp roster before the team officially opens training camp for the 2025-26 NHL season on Wednesday, September 17. Edmonton’s first pre-season game will be a split-squad match with the Flames on Sunday, September 21.
