Former Bruins forward Karson Kuhlman is joining Rögle BK after scoring 21 goals in Finland, continuing his pro hockey career overseas at age 29.
Karson Kuhlman has signed a one-year deal with Rögle BK.
The Swedish club announced the move following Kuhlman’s productive season with Lukko, where he quietly pieced together one of his best offensive years as a pro.
In 60 games, the 29-year-old registered 21 goals and 46 points. He also posted a plus-7 rating, not flashy, but effective.
The performance gave him new life on the European market, and Rögle BK didn’t wait long to bring him in.
Kuhlman first joined the Boston Bruins in 2018 after signing a two-year entry-level contract.
He carved out a role in Boston over parts of four seasons, mostly playing on the third and fourth lines. In 75 regular-season games, he scored 7 goals and chipped in 15 points.
He also suited up for 16 playoff games, adding four points.
Coaches liked his work ethic, and while he wasn’t a household name, he showed up when it counted.
Midway through the 2021–22 season, the Seattle Kraken claimed Kuhlman off waivers. He’d later land in Winnipeg, where he played his final NHL games in 2022–23. That year, he recorded 2 goals and 4 points in 33 appearances for the Jets.
All told, Kuhlman’s NHL career spanned 147 games. His totals: 12 goals, 30 points, and a minus-4 rating. After his final stint in Winnipeg, the door to Europe opened — and he took it.
With Rögle BK, Kuhlman gets another shot to keep playing meaningful hockey. The SHL is fast, physical, and highly competitive , and it might be just the right fit. His time in Finland showed he can produce and still play with pace.
This isn’t a farewell tour.
Kuhlman still has plenty to give, and if last year was any indication, Rögle might be getting a solid return on this one-year bet.
