Over his NHL career, Marco Scandella was more than serviceable, and now the Quebec native has called it quits after not finding a team in 2024/25.

Back in 2008. the Minnesota Wild used a second-round pick on blue liner Marco Scandella, and since that time, he put together a very impressive NHL career that lasted 784 games.

During that tenure, Scandella played for Minnesota, Buffalo, his hometown Montreal Canadiens and eventually the St. Louis Blues, with his last NHL game coming during the 2023/24 season, his 14th in the National Hockey League.

Montreal Native Ends Career After Time with Canadiens and Blues

Now, the 35-year old has officially announced his retirement, retiring as one of the most reliable players of this past generation, as he always gave 100% and led well both on and off the ice.

Scandella's Steady Play Remembered from His Short But Memorable Habs Tenure

While he was never a flashy player, Scandella was reliable on both ends of the ice, as he ends his NHL career with 51 goals and 170 points across those 784 games, as well as having the respect and admiration of all his opponents and teammates.

Although brief, Scandella will also be remembered for a tenure with his hometown Canadiens, one that lasted just 20 games in 2019/20, with many long-time fans finally getting to cheer on the Quebec native for their team.

Ultimately, it would not be a surprise if the veteran finds his way onto a coach staff somewhere in the NHL after his retirement, as his experience and leadership were always great qualities that could lead him to a very good career in hockey post-retirement.
