Former Oilers goaltender Connor Ingram announces retirement

With training camp right around the corner, a former Edmonton Oilers goaltender has announced his retirement.

On Friday evening, netminder Connor Ingram announced his retirement on Instagram after parts of five seasons in the National Hockey League.

The Imperial, Sask. product played three seasons with the Western Hockey League’s Kamloops Blazers, leading to the Tampa Bay Lightning selecting him in the third round of the 2016 draft. After spending a handful of seasons in the Lightning’s system, Ingram was traded to the Nashville Predators, the team he made his NHL debut with.

Ingram played three regular season games in 2021-22, then four more games during the 2022 postseason. Before the start of the 2022-23 season, the Arizona Coyotes claimed him off waivers. He served as the team’s backup that season, before appearing in 50 games with the Coyotes in 2023-24. Remaining with the franchise after their move to Salt Lake City, Ingram played 22 games with the Utah Mammoth.

Midway through that season, Ingram entered the Player Assistance Program, ending his tenure with the Mammoth. Before the 2025-26 season, the Oilers acquired the netminder for future considerations. He played 32 regular-season games and posted an .899 save percentage and 2.60 goals-against average, then appeared in five postseason games. Despite a decent season, Ingram went unsigned throughout the summer before announcing his retirement.

The lone trophy that Ingram won in the NHL was the Bill Masterton Trophy in 2023-24, returning after some mental health troubles. According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, Ingram is looking to return to school for psychology, a way of giving back and helping others.
