Golden Knights sign Alexander Holtz to two-year contract

The Vegas Golden Knights have signed right winger Alexander Holtz to a two-year contract with an average annual value of  $837,500, bringing him through the 2026-27 season, the team announced on Tuesday. 

The 23-year-old rejoins the Golden Knights after scoring four goals and 12 points in 53 regular-season games, while also netting seven goals and 13 points in 16 AHL contests with the Henderson Silver Knights. 

Before his time in Las Vegas, Holtz played for the New Jersey Devils and posted a career-high 16 goals and 28 points, playing all 82 games in 2023-24, before joining the Golden Knights alongside goaltender Akira Schmidt in June 2024. 

In exchange for Holtz and Schmidt, the Golden Knights sent center Paul Cotter and a third-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft. 

A native of Stockholm, Sweden, Holtz has played a combined 163 NHL games, scoring 23 goals and 23 assists, and has established himself as a regular in the Vegas lineup heading into the 2025-26 season. 

The seventh overall selection in the 2020 NHL Draft by the Devils, the six-foot forward previously played professionally in Europe with Sweden’s Djurgardens IF from 2018-2021, having graduated from their junior systems, before entering the SHL ranks. 

Following a seven-goal, 18-point season in 2020-21, he made the switch to North America, starting with the AHL’s Binghamton Devils, before making his NHL debut with New Jersey with nine games in 2021-22. 

Internationally, he has also represented Sweden at the World Junior level, scoring a combined four goals and eight points through 12 games at both the 2020 and 2021 tournaments. 

Now, he will look to stick with the Golden Knights through the entire 2025-26 NHL season, as they get set to drop the puck on the regular season schedule on Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Kings.
