Golden Knights sign Reilly Smith, Brandon Saad, Cole Reinhardt to contracts

Sin City is keeping a couple of notable names around, while welcoming in a new one.

On Tuesday, the Vegas Golden Knights announced that they have re-signed forwards Reilly Smith and Brandon Saad, while signing forward Cole Reinhardt as well.

Smith was one of the “Original Misfits,” playing for the Golden Knights in each of the team’s first six seasons of existence, capped off with helping the team win its first Stanley Cup in 2023. After spending the 2023-24 season with the Pittsburgh Penguins before being traded to the New York Rangers in July 2024. He found his way back onto the Vegas roster after he was dealt back to the Golden Knights before the trade deadline this past March.

In 79 games overall this year, Smith scored 13 goals and 27 assists for 40 points. He notched four points in 11 postseason games before the Golden Knights were knocked out by the Edmonton Oilers in the second round.

In 919 NHL games, Smith has scored 226 goals and 327 assists for 553 points, with another 83 points in 117 postseason affairs.

Saad started the 2024-25 season with the St. Louis Blues, but joined the Golden Knights when he signed in late January after his contract with the Blues was mutually terminated. He scored 14 points in 29 games with the Golden Knights, notching a total of 13 goals and 17 assists for 30 points in 72 games.

In 935 games, Saad has scored 266 goals and 263 assists for 529 points. He’s also notched 57 points in 111 playoff games, winning Stanley Cups with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2013 and 2015.

Reinhardt became an unrestricted free agent after spending the last five seasons with the Ottawa Senators. He played a total of 17 games with the Sens this year, potting a goal and an assist. The 25-year-old has spent the majority of his pro career with Ottawa’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Belleville Senators. In 270 games with the Baby Sens, Reinhardt has scored 54 goals and 77 assists for 131 points.
