As the Vegas Golden Knights front office gets ready for the new NHL season, they can feel good about the roster put into place. Vegas landed the biggest fish on the free agent market this summer, Mitch Marner, giving the team a major boost offensively.

The Golden Knights fell in the second round of the playoffs this past season, and the team was desperate to add more talent to the team. Marner now gives them another legitimate scoring option, and the roster should benefit from having him.

But the front office now turns its attention to another extension that they have to deal with: star Jack Eichel. Eichel will be entering the final year of his current contract, and there have been some rumors about him testing free agency.

However, it seems that Vegas may not have any plans to allow this to happen.

Golden Knights Extension Talks With Jack Eichel Given New Life

According to The Fourth Period, talks between Eichel's representatives and Golden Knights general manager Kelly McCrimmon are expected to pick up soon.

Eichel is coming off a stellar season for the Golden Knights last year, seeing him put up 28 goals with 66 assists over 77 regular-season games played. The veteran is one of the more crucial players on the Golden Knights, and Vegas can't afford to lose him.

Pairing him with Marner gives this team even more firepower to go after another Stanley Cup title, and Vegas is hopeful that the pair will be together for years to come. It seems like the Golden Knights will do everything in their power to at least attempt to sign Eichel before he even has a chance to test the free agent market.
