According to Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press, the Winnipeg Jets have placed forward Walker Duehr on waivers. Duehr began the season on the Jets’ season-opening injured reserve due to a preseason lower-body injury.
Duehr, 28, is about to begin his second season with the Jets organization. He signed a one-year, $775K contract with Winnipeg ahead of the 2025-26 season. He spent much of the year with the AHL’s Manitoba Moose, scoring 17 goals and 34 points in 62 games with a +4 rating. The Jets recalled Duehr for a three-game stretch in early March, and he went scoreless while averaging 9:30 of ice time per game.
Despite limited exposure in the NHL last season, Winnipeg quickly extended Duehr for added depth moving forward. One day after the Carolina Hurricanes lifted the Stanley Cup, the Jets signed Duehr to a two-year, $1.75MM ($875K AAV) contract through the 2027-28 campaign.
Although he hasn’t gotten many chances with the Jets, Duehr gained NHL experience earlier in his professional career. A tertiary scorer at Minnesota State University-Mankato, Duehr signed as a collegiate free agent with the Calgary Flames toward the end of the 2020-21 campaign.
Duehr played 84 games with the Flames from 2021 to 2025, scoring nine goals and 19 points with a -9 rating, averaging 8:55 of ice time per game. Despite the limited offensive totals, Duehr also registered 150 hits in that span, showing what he can contribute in the bottom six.
