If Duehr clears waivers, the Jets can assign him to their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate Manitoba Moose.
The Sioux Falls, South Dakota native has yet to play this season due to a lower-body injury he sustained during Winnipeg’s preseason. He was medically cleared and able to fully join Jets practice on Friday, and is now being waived with the intent of sending him to the AHL.
Duehr, 28, went scoreless in three games for Winnipeg last season. In 62 games for Manitoba, he notched 17 goals and 17 assists for 34 points, before contributing a goal and two assists for three points in the team’s seven playoff games.
After a four-year collegiate career with Minnesota State University, Mankato, Duehr signed with the Calgary Flames as an undrafted free agent in April of 2021. In three-plus seasons with the Flames’ organization, he played a total of 84 NHL games while totaling nine goals and 10 assists for 19 points.
In January of 2025, Duehr was waived by Calgary and claimed by the San Jose Sharks. In eight games for San Jose over the remainder of the 2024-25 season, he had two goals and no assists.
Ahead of the 2025-26 season, Duehr signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Jets. This past offseason, he signed a two-year, $1.75 million deal to stay with Winnipeg.
The Jets, who have gotten off to a solid start with a 4-2-2 record for 10 points through eight games this season, will begin a miniature two-game road trip against the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday before visiting the Dallas Stars on Thursday.
