Kris Knoblauch Fumes Over Inconsistent Officiating and Fires Shots at Referees

Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch was not too pleased with the inconsistencies in officiating and blasted the officials for doing poorly in the series.

The Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers know each other quite well now, having played each other in the Stanley Cup Finals for two years in a row.

The Panthers and Oilers got hammered with 122 minutes of penalties in the final period alone, many of which were of the game-misconduct variety, with a fourth-line brawl the headliner, in what was a game that got away from the Oilers in a huge way.

While the Panthers do not mind this type of aggressiveness and dirtiness, that's not Edmonton's game at all.

The Oilers tried to play the Panthers style, which backfired

The Oilers tried to play that way when things went south in Game 3. What had been a razor-thin series did not go the Oilers' way on Monday night, and they deviated from their true style of play, which proved to be the nail in the coffin.

The Panthers now have a 2-1 series lead in a best-of-7 series that is starting to get out of hand, and in a hurry.

The Panthers may just be firmly implanted in Edmonton's psyche now, especially that of Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch, who fired shots at referees for the inconsistent officiating between Games 2 and 3.

'They called the too many men penalty(on us) which it was. Too bad they didnt call it in game 2'

- Kris Knoblauch

There was a line brawl in the third with Jonah Gadjovich and Darnell Nurse ignoring the officials around them as they slugged it out in a heavyweight tilt, while other skirmishes broke out following a cross-check from Trent Frederic on Bennett.

Monday night's game truly felt more like an old-school Saturday night minor league game at times, with all that was going on, and fans should note that this series is far from over, and you know the Oilers will come out guns blazing in Game 4.
