The Tampa Bay Lightning had plenty of outside eyes on their building Tuesday night, with reports listing scouts from 11 NHL organizations ahead of their November 3 matchup against the Detroit Red Wings. With Nikita Kucherov’s future already dominating conversation around the franchise, the attendance list gives fans another development to watch.
The important distinction is that scouts attending a game does not establish trade negotiations. Still, the timing creates an intriguing backdrop as rival organizations evaluate their options and Tampa Bay navigates uncertainty surrounding its biggest offensive star.
A November 3 post listed scouts from the following 11 NHL teams in attendance:

With Kucherov requesting a trade, his future is the obvious focus as rival teams gather in Tampa Bay. Scouts could also be evaluating other pieces, but the level of representation adds intrigue to a situation that could reshape the Lightning’s roster.
Kucherov is the obvious name drawing attention. Elliotte Friedman revealed that the winger informed Tampa Bay and his teammates he would not re-sign and wanted a trade. Kucherov subsequently confirmed his request while discussing the breakdown in his relationship with management.
“It was never about the money for me,” Kucherov said in his November 2 availability. “It was more about poor communication and respect.”
That makes the scouting presence worth monitoring, although it does not connect any of the 11 teams directly to negotiations. Clubs considering a major acquisition would need to assess more than offensive talent. The acquisition price, roster fit and possibility of a longer commitment would shape whether an exploratory conversation becomes a serious pursuit.
Edmonton’s inclusion will naturally interest Oilers fans. The possibility of adding Kucherov to an offence featuring Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl is compelling. However, being represented in the building does not establish that Edmonton is pursuing him, preparing an offer or finding a workable financial path.
The same standard applies to Montreal, Minnesota, Vegas and every other organization listed. Attendance alone cannot separate an interested buyer from a club completing its regular scouting work.
General manager Julien BriseBois has publicly stated that the Lightning have no intention of trading Kucherov. That remains the organization’s stated position despite the winger’s request.
For Tampa Bay, any change would require weighing the value of keeping an elite player against the return available and the consequences of his uncertain future. Rival scouts cannot make that decision for them.
The next meaningful development would be credible reporting that identifies trade discussions, specific targets or a change in Tampa Bay’s stance. Until then, 11 teams in the building creates a watchlist, rather than proof that a blockbuster is approaching.
