Yesterday, the Canadiens lost in overtime. It’s not the end of the world… although clearly the club has some things to work on after a less than inspiring defensive performance.
Is it Jakub Dobes’ fault that the Canadiens lost? No.
More often than not, he kept his club in the game. But sometimes there wasn’t much he could do—including on the Wild’s first shot of the game.
This is the sixth time this season that the Canadiens have allowed a goal on their opponent’s first shot.

Dobes has two of the six goals in such circumstances, for those who are wondering.
Recently, after his games, Dobes left the Canadiens with no choice but to conclude that the formula couldn’t change in front of the net for the next game.
But yesterday, it was a different story.
Once again, we’re not saying this just because the club lost. We also have to consider the fact that Dobes scored four in a row, which is not the norm for this team.
But above all, at some point, Samuel Montembeault will have to be given a chance to play. And if it’s not tomorrow, it will be at the end of February.
Dobes may be playing like a #1 right now, but in the modern NHL, you can’t let a goalie like Monty sit out for too long.
The numbers are impossible to ignore: Jakub Dobes has taken Samuel Montembeault’s job https://t.co/LPqX2WhXjj #GoHabsGo #Canadiens

Against the Winnipeg Jets, who are anything but a powerhouse, Montembeault will have to put into practice (if he plays) what Marco Marciano has been working on with him over the past few days.
The timing is right to do so, in my opinion.
Putting the Québécois in front of the net could also naturally force the guys to tighten up their defense tomorrow night. After all, yesterday wasn’t pretty.
We’ll see what’s decided. But the habs need to see how much of an impact Éric Raymond’s departure will have on #35… and they shouldn’t wait until the end of February to do so.
– Notice to those concerned.
Update: From what I’m hearing, there’s no cause for concern in the cases of Guboglo and Graham-Roache.
Neal should be back on the field in Florida.
Petrasso: information is hard to come by. We are waiting for an official update.

– Time is running out.
There are only 30 hours left before the trade freeze for the Olympic break.
It’s likely to be quiet in the #habs camp, but we should see a few trades across the league.

– We knew time was against the habs, and now it’s official.
With Newhook and Laine set to return imminently, Bolduc must go through waivers to be sent to Laval.
As soon as a player plays 160 games (season + playoffs), which Bolduc did yesterday, he must go through waivers, even on his rookie contract.
