The 2024-25 Nashville Predators have proved to be one of the NHL's biggest disappointments in recent memory.
After acquiring Steven Stamkos, Jonathan Marchessault and Brady Skjei in the offseason, Nashville was projected to be a formidable Stanley Cup contender.
But 57 games into the season, the Predators sit in second-to-last place of the Central Division with a goal differential of minus-47.
Nashville lost 4-1 to the Florida Panthers on Tuesday, which drops it to 2-8 in its last 10 games.
Veteran defenseman Luke Schenn, who is amid his second season in Nashville, voiced his frustrations for the lack of offensive output that is contributing to the losing.
“You don’t even really know what to say anymore as far as the overall team game,” Schenn said. “I don’t think I’ve ever been a part of a group like this that literally can’t score a goal,”

Schenn logged 17:02 of ice time in the defeat, delivering four hits and blocking one shot.
The two-time Stanley Cup champion is facing a contrast in team success, having won those two Cups back-to-back with the Tampa Bay Lightning only four seasons ago.
Nashville is No. 31 overall in scoring, but per Moneypuck.com, the Predators rank No. 12 in shot attempt differential and No. 16 in expected goals rate at five-on-five play.
“We’re already having a hard enough time back there,” head coach Andrew Brunette said, according to Vannozzi. “I think with his mobility and what he brings to our hockey team — obviously, he’s our captain and our best player — he’s irreplaceable for us. We’ll just see how he is and what the future holds. It gives another opportunity to some of the young kids to hopefully solidify a position here.”
