Can Joshua Roy become a better player in Utah after struggling to reach the NHL in Montreal?

The Mammoth and the Canadiens traded players who hadn't done well in reaching the NHL. Roy might be able to do something major for Utah in 2026-27.

Joshua Roy, who was drafted in the 5th round of the 2021 draft, has struggled to stay in the NHL. Roy has played 38 career games, with only three games in the 2025-26 season.

In those 38 games, the 23-year-old has only scored six goals and added five assists. Roy has struggled to stay in the NHL despite being a good player in the NHL. Roy hopes to have better luck in Utah. But there might be a problem with the roster of Utah.

A problem for Roy. Several youngsters like Tij Iginla could put enormous pressure on Roy. If Roy can't pick things up, then he might not see the NHL with Utah either.

Roy from Saint-Georges-de-Beauce, Quebec, was a two-time first-team All-Star in the QJMHL... So Roy has a lot of talent.

At the least, though, Roy adds some nice depth to Utah. If the Mammoth suffer any injury issues or anything like that, Roy can be a nice option.

But Roy's No. 1 goal is to become an NHL player. As for Utah? Utah has a nice problem if players have to fight for a spot on a roster.
