The Utah Mammoth have signed forward Logan Cooley to an eight-year contract extension with an annual average value of $10 million.
The 21-year-old was in the final year of his three-year entry-level contract, paying $950,000 per campaign.
Cooley is in the midst of an eight-goal, 12-point campaign. He’s on pace for 90 points, which would smash his previous personal best of 65 set a year ago. Selected third overall in 2022, Cooley made his debut with the Arizona Coyotes in 2023-24, finishing with 20 goals and 44 points. He exploded for 65 points in his first year of Utah, where he established himself as one of the best young forwards in the league.
Cooley leads all 2022 draft picks in points in 53 goals, 68 assists and 121 points. Only one other player selected that season – Montreal’s Juraj Slafkovsky at No. 1 – has broken the century mark (117 points in 211 games).
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Cooley came up through the Penguins’ Elite minor hockey program before joining the USA Hockey National Team Development Program in 2020. From there, he proved to be one of USA’s most lethal contributors, which included a 75-point campaign with the U-18 team in 2021-22. That same year, he won the silver medal with USA at the U-18 World Championship while also earning top forward honors.
From there, Cooley was a Hobey Baker finalist for his play with the University of Minnesota in 2022-23. He was the Big 10 scoring champion with 36 goals, and he led the entire NCAA with 38 assists. Cooley was named to the World Junior tournament all-star team during the 2023 World Juniors, helping USA take home bronze.
Cooley was a big part of USA’s World Championship team in 2025, helping the nation win gold for the first time in over a decade. The performance helped boost his stock ahead of the upcoming Olympic Winter Games, with Cooley hoping to crack the roster for the first time in his career.
Utah is currently tied for first in the Western Conference with an 8-3-0 record, giving them 16 points on the season.
