While Matthew Tkachuk and the Panthers were partying at a nightclub, Florida's gritty forward took a shot at Oilers' Connor McDavid and brutally embarrassed him.
A clip appeared on the X account of a Florida Panthers fan named Jen showing Panthers star Matthew Tkachuk disrespecting Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid as the team celebrated its Stanley Cup championship.
'Connor McDavid, who?!' Tkachuk shouts into a microphone, prompting the Florida crowd into a raucous and expletive-laced chant directed at the Oilers superstar, where everyone used the infamous F word.
The party has been a divisive one, sparking outrage among a great deal of Edmonton fans who take the jab as classless and disrespectful.
But with the intensity of the Panthers-Oilers Stanley Cup Final, and Tkachuk's infamous reputation as a hot-headed agitator, his chirping isn't necessarily shocking.
Tkachuk's needle will inevitably end up on McDavid, who was already clearly upset following the Oilers' crushing Cup Final loss. Emotions are raw, and this zinger isn't going to help diffuse things in the near future.
Adding fuel to the flames, the Tkachuk siblings have already been looking forward to the 2026 Winter Olympics, speaking out loud and clear about Team USA's gold ambitions.
Their latest encounter with Team Canada at the Four Nations tournament was sheer chaos, having plenty of trash talk, fights, and a theatrical McDavid overtime goal that sealed a Canadian victory and silenced the Tkachuk-led Americans.
McDavid will lead Team Canada on Olympic ice in Milan, looking to guide a loaded roster and carry on the country's tradition of performing at international levels.
It is true that Canadian NHL clubs have not won a Stanley Cup in more than 30 years, but Team Canada has played very well on the world stage, winning gold at three of the previous four best-on-best Olympic tournaments (2002, 2010, and 2014).
With Canada vs. the U.S. becoming more competitive and players like Tkachuk adding fuel to the fire, February 2026's Olympic matchup is looking like a must-see hockey event.
