Miro Heiskanen Injury Update: Week-to-Week, 4 Nations Doubtful

The Dallas Stars could be without star defenseman Miro Heiskanen for the foreseeable future, and he might miss the 4 Nations Face-Off Tournament. Heiskanen has been ruled out week-to-week with an injury. Dallas Stars head coach Pete DeBoer confirmed the news on Thursday and said his top blue-liner is out with a lower-body issue.

The injury occurred after a collision with Vegas Golden Knights captain Mark Stone, forcing Heiskanen to leave the game. There is a lot of talk about how dirty or intentional the hit was by Stone, who said he was tripped, but some believe he dove into Heiskanen’s lower body.

According to Lia Assimakopoulos of the Dallas News, Heiskanen had an MRI yesterday and will see a specialist today to learn more about the injury. “He is doubtful for 4 Nations, but no official decision yet,” is what was reported.

The potentially good news here, according to reporter Shawn Shapiro , is that as long as DeBoer is giving the update there is still a chance Heiskanen will be ok. He tweeted, “Jim Nill will often address media or send out PR update if it’s more serious.”

Dr. tweeted, Dr. Harjas Grewal, who posts a lot of hockey injuries, wrote on Janury 28:

“Most likely an isolated MCL injury for Heiskanen. Hard to judge grade via video but I have some hope as this isn’t as severe as say Laine’s injury I’d say equal chance it’s day-to-day or week-to-week Torn ACL is also possible but unlikely.”
