Canucks defenseman Tyler Myers discusses the speculation around captain Quinn Hughes and the chances of him wanting to depart Vancouver for a chance to play with his brothers, Jack and Luke Hughes.

The future of Quinn Hughes with the Vancouver Canucks remains the subject of speculation , especially amidst reports that he could want to play with his brothers, Jack and Luke Hughes, who are with the New Jersey Devils.

Per teammate Tyler Myers, Hughes isn't a fan of the speculation that he's going to try and play on the same team as Jack and Luke, and that it's being blown out of proportion.

Huggy doesn't like all that speculation and stuff. He loves his brothers, loves his family like everybody else, but he's not going around the room saying he wants to play with his brothers. I know it's a big story around the hockey world, but everyone makes that a lot more than it is.

Canucks president of hockey operations Jim Rutherford recently stoked the fires of thoughts of potential tampering with comments that he later walked back.

In recent days, Rutherford also spoke about not having a deadline for trying to get Hughes to sign an extension with the Canucks.

As for Quinn, no, I don't have a deadline on that. I mean, I'll say the obvious. He's a wonderful person and a great player, but we do control him for two more years. I think a better way of saying that is that we control him for a year and two-thirds, because if we get to that trade deadline two years from now, and it looks like he doesn't want to stay then, then we would have to do something at that point. But we are hoping that he's here to stay and he's the leader of the team and the face of the franchise.

Hughes had 76 points (16G, 60A) in 68 games this year, but was unable to participate with brother Jack for the American squad in the 4 Nations Faceoff in late February.
