Nick Turchiaro-USA TODAY Sports

The National Hockey League continues to deliver the news to the hockey world even when they host big events like the 2024 Stadium Series. During the weekend, the NHL announced the location of the 2025 Stadium Series and the 2026 NHL All-Star Game. Both places have been rumoured and known for a few months, especially the Stadium Series Game.

Columbus to Play Detroit Outdoors

The Columbus Blue Jackets will host the Detroit Red Wings inside Ohio Stadium, aka The Horseshoe, on the campus of “The” Ohio State University. NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman announced during an interview with ESPN’s Emily Kaplan during the second period of the 2024 Stadium Series game between the New Jersey Devils and Philadelphia Flyers.

The NHL is investing in the Ohio State and Michigan Football rivalry. The Big House in Ann Arbor hosted the 2014 Winter Classic between the Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs. There was a record crowd of 105,491. The NHL hopes to fill 110,000 people inside the “Horseshoe” on March 1, 2025, for the Stadium Series.

Per the NHL Release:

The 2025 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series will showcase a number of the top players in the NHL. The Blue Jackets are led by forwards Johnny Gaudreau, Adam Fantilli and Captain Boone Jenner, defenseman Zach Werenski, and goaltender Elvis Merzlikins. The Red Wings counter with forwards Alex DeBrincat, Lucas Raymond and Captain Dylan Larkin, along with defensemen Jake Walman and Moritz Seider and goaltender Alex Lyon.

NHL All-Star Weekend Heads To Long Island

The National Hockey League has announced that the 2026 NHL All-Star Game will be heading to UBS Arena on Long Island.

During the 2024 NHL All-Star Weekend, there was speculation that the League wanted to have an All-Star Game in the New York area after the success in Toronto. Commissioner Gary Bettman told the media in Toronto that the NHL was looking to do something in 2026 as a sendoff to the Players as they head back to the Olympics.

Per the NHL Release:

“The National Hockey League is thrilled to have the best and brightest of our game hosted at the spectacular UBS Arena for the 2026 NHL All-Star Weekend,’’ NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said. “We have been looking forward to UBS Arena playing host to one of our major League events since before construction of this wonderful arena began. We have every confidence that the Islanders organization, led by Scott Malkin and Jon Ledecky, will deliver a celebration that will make the greater New York region and the NHL proud.”

“After an impressive All-Star Weekend earlier this month, the players are looking forward to raising the bar even higher at UBS Arena in 2026 where we know the New York Islanders will be great hosts for the event,” said Marty Walsh, NHLPA Executive Director. “The NHL All-Star Weekend will be an exciting lead-in to the 2026 Olympic Winter Games.”

This will be the second time the New York Islanders will host an NHL All-Star Game—the first since 1983.

In addition, the New Jersey Devils and Buffalo Sabres will participate in the 2024 Global Series in Prague, Czech Republic, to open the 2024-25 NHL Regular Season.
