Brad Marchand’s postseason performance with the Florida Panthers earned him a second Stanley Cup and, most probably, a huge last payday once he enters free agency on July 1.
Marchand, 37, played a pivotal role in Florida’s back-to-back championship run, scoring 10 goals and adding 10 assists across 23 playoff games.
He was the runner-up for the Conn Smythe Trophy, losing it by eight voting points to teammate Sam Bennett, and became a key veteran presence after joining the Panthers via trade from the Boston Bruins at the deadline.
On Wednesday, NHL insider Darren Dreger reported the new valuation Marchand could enter the market with, which Dreger estimates will be at around $8 to $8.5 million per season.
Darren Dreger: Brad Marchand's camp could be looking for $8.5 per, or at least $8 plus - TSN 1050

“Brad Marchand’s camp could be looking for $8.5 per, or at least $8 plus,” Dreger said. The veteran winger becomes an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
Just minutes after Florida’s 5–1 win over Edmonton in Game 6 of the Final, during an on-ice interview, Marchand commented on his uncertain future.
“We’ll see what happens here soon,” Marchand said.
The former Bruins captain had spent his entire 16-year career in Boston before the late-season move. Still, his transition into Florida’s system was seamless, something he credited to the environment around him.
“They’ve built an incredible culture in this room. It’s very easy to follow,” Marchand said. “And when you do that, you just leave it all on the ice.”
Wherever he signs next, Marchand is expected to command a top-tier deal, perhaps the biggest of his career, even though he'll be entering the final stage of it.
