Kyle Connor appears set to stay in Winnipeg, with David Pagnotta revealing that he'd be surprised if the veteran winger left the Jets in the next 12 months.

The Winnipeg Jets have built a very solid core in recent years, one that has helped them to back-to-back fantastic regular seasons, although they're yet to cash in with a deep run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

This summer, they lost Nikolaj Ehlers to the Carolina Hurricanes in free agency, and now, they're in danger of losing another key piece of their core, with Kyle Connor now eligible for an extension heading into free agency in the summer of 2026.

Insider Provides Promising Update On Kyle Connor's Future In Winnipeg

However, there's more optimism surrounding Connor than there was Ehlers, with David Pagnotta revealing a very positive update for Jets fans on their home grown winger.

They wanna keep him, I think he's definitely interested in staying; I'd be a little bit surprised if they don't figure this out.

During his appearance on Winnipeg Sports Talk, David Pagnotta noted the mutual interest between Connor and the Jets to get a new deal done, and while there's no rush, keeping him from unrestricted free agency would be the move to make for both parties.

After a career year of 97 points in 2024/25, the extension won't come easy for the Jets, as most expect Connor's new deal to be worth at least $10 million a year, and knowing what he'll get on the free agency market, the team need to pay up.

As of right now, all signs point towards a new deal getting done, and with the Jets needing to retain their talent, it's better for them to get a deal done now, rather than wait until free agency.
