Simon Edvinsson's mindset hasn't changed, as trade talks continue. It may be closer to the trade deadline if the Lightning trade Nikita Kucherov. Simon Edvinsson trade talks continue and his mindset hasn’t changed

The Sheet with Jeff Marek: Things seem to be status quo with the Detroit Red Wings and Simon Edvinsson.

Pagnotta: “His mindset hasn’t changed. He’s, I think, he’s waiting for a trade more than anticipating Detroit coming to him, saying, “Fine, we’ll give you, you know, $77 million over, over seven years.”

Doesn’t seem like, like that’s the case. So they may want to keep them, but you know, again, all the teams that I listed off before, and I’m sure there are others, would love to get their hands on, on Simon Edvinsson. 23-year-old first-pair defenseman. Who is the, you know, (Victor) Hedman without the offense for now.

Marek: “6′ 6”

The Minnesota Wild Feel They Have the Best Dylan Larkin Trade Offer

Pagnotta: “Who, who wouldn’t want him? I think all, all other 30 teams would love to get their hands on him. Obviously, some can’t because the cap, you know, restraints and things like that, and he’s going to command a hefty price.

But as far as I know, his mindset hasn’t changed. He’s still training and bouncing around different parts of the U.S. at the moment, and the trade conversations continue.”

A Nikita Kucherov trade may be closer to the trade deadline

Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic: Nikita Kucherov shocked the NHL Friday night with his trade request. He intends to remain playing for the Tampa Bay Lightning while they figure things out, though does wonder if at some point he puts more pressure on the Lightning by leaving the team.

Chris Johnston reported that the 33-year-old had asked for $20 million over six years. Many thought a deal would have been done by now, but now they left stunned.

One GM thought it might be a negotiation ploy, but he spoke to teammates on the plane about his situation and what he was going to do.

Guessing that if he’s going to get traded, it would be closer to the March 1st trade deadline. GM Julian BriseBois may not want to trade, but he might not have much of a choice.

Could Nikita Kucherov Change His Mind About Wanting out of Tampa?

Dylan Larkin had the Tampa Bay Lightning on his trade list, but wonder if that changes now. The Lightning did speak to the Red Wings about Larkin. What about a third getting involved? Could the Lightning go after both Larkin and Simon Edvinsson?

Could see the Montreal Canadiens being on Kucherov’s trade list, but there is zero chance the Lightning would trade him there. The Vegas Golden Knights are always in on big names.
