Nick Cousins and Hayden Hodgson fined

Yesterday’s game between the Sens and the Canadiens left plenty of room for dangerous gestures, including Nick Cousins, who took an axe to the hands of Ivan Demidov… And Hayden Hodgson also got some bad press for hitting Alex Newhook in a rather dangerous manner. For those wondering: no, Cousins won’t be suspended… but he will have to pay a fine for his stupid gesture. Oh, and it’s also worth noting that it’s the same for Hayden Hodgson:

Ottawa’s Hayden Hodgson has been fined $2,018.23, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for boarding Montreal’s Alex Newhook.

Jayden Struble is doing better than Cousins and Hodgson. The NHL has decided not to penalize the Canadiens defenseman for his gesture towards Jan Jenik. He’s doing well…

There was a lot of action last night, and we have to wonder if it’ll be the same on Saturday night at the Bell Centre. One thing’s for sure: yesterday’s game really showed that the rivalry between the two clubs exists, and that it can become even more intense. The two clubs don’t like each other very much, and this was clearly evident in the match in Quebec City. I have a feeling that the referees will be quite busy on Saturday in Montreal.
