The 2025-26 season will be a season Kyle Burroughs would like to forget. The 30-year-old defenseman was placed on injured reserve (IR) with an upper-body injury before the season opener. After healing from injury and no room on the roster, Burroughs was activated from the injured reserve list and placed on waivers to be assigned to the Ontario Reign.
Burroughs cleared waivers on November 2nd and was assigned to the Reign, where he would play 18 games with the club. Burroughs was paired with rookie Kirill Kirsanov and played on both the power play and penalty kill. In 18 games, the veteran defenseman scored one goal and recorded six assists. His lone goal was an overtime winner on November 8th against Ontario’s SoCal rivals, the San Diego Gulls.

Burroughs’ season was cut short prematurely on December 21st with a lower-body injury (appeared to be a leg injury). Burroughs’ contract expires on June 30th, making him an unrestricted free agent. It’s unknown if the organization views him as a depth defenseman signing in free agency.
