Sebrango was placed on waivers on Tuesday after starting out the 2025-26 season with the Senators. He played in two of the team’s first three games, registering a -1 plus/minus in the team’s season opener against the Tampa Bay Lightning last Thursday, before being held off the scoresheet this past Saturday against his new team, the defending Stanley Cup champions.
The Ottawa native has already matched the most NHL games played in a single season, reaching the mark he set with the Sens last year. In four career appearances with his hometown team, Sebrango has a -2 rating while averaging 12:46 of ice time.
Sebrango re-signed with the Sens last month, agreeing to a one-year, two-way contract.
The 23-year-old has spent the majority of his two full years with the organization with the Belleville Senators, Ottawa’s American Hockey League affiliate. Last year, he set career highs in goals (8), assists (12) and points (20). In 220 regular-season AHL games, Sebrango has scored 13 goals and 32 assists for 45 points, with another three points in seven Calder Cup Playoff games.
Sebrango was once regarded as a solid prospect. A former third-round pick of the Detroit Red Wings in the 2020 NHL Draft, he had a lot of the skillsets to blossom into a full-time NHLer. However, things haven’t quite panned out. After quickly falling out of favor with the Wings, leading to a stint in the ECHL, he was traded to the Senators as part of the deal that sent Alex DeBrincat to Hockeytown in 2023.
The Panthers (3-1-0) are set to visit the Red Wigns on Wednesday night.
