Skoog is coming off his first NHL contract, which was a one-year entry-level deal that had an AAV of $950,000 last season. He signed the contract after spending the 2023-24 season on an American Hockey League contract, playing for the Panthers’ primary affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers, as well as their ECHL farm team, the Florida Everblades.
The Stockholm native has been a solid secondary scorer for the Checkers in his two years of professional hockey. After scoring 22 goals and 31 points in 49 games two seasons ago, he followed that up with nine goals and 15 assists for 24 points in 72 games. He was part of the Charlotte team that made it all the way to the Calder Cup Final, ultimately losing to the Vancouver Canucks’ AHL affiliate, the Abbotsford Canucks, in six games.
In 18 postseason games, Skoog scored four goals and three assists for seven points.
Across two seasons in the AHL, the 26-year-old has scored 31 goals and 24 assists for 55 points. In the 20 games he played with the Everblades during the 2023-24 season, he notched two goals and six assists for a total of eight points.
Prior to turning pro, Skoog had a successful run at the NCAA level. In three years with Boston University, he became a key depth player who helped the team make it to the Men’s Frozen Four in 2023. With back-to-back 30-point seasons, Skoog was named to a Hockey East Second-Team and Third-Team All-Star in his last two seasons with the program.
