Phil Kessel is taking drastic measures to get back into the NHL

Phil Kessel is a player that a lot of fans have a soft spot for as he was an amazing goal-scorer who always defied the odds.

However, after winning a Stanley Cup with the Las Vegas Golden Knights, Kessel has not played in the NHL. He has been searching for his next NHL job, although it has never arrived. He sat out all of last season, and now, it would appear as though he is very serious about getting back into the league, once and for all. Having said that, there are various questions right now about his conditioning and whether or not a team would even want him.

Well, according to Pierre LeBrun, it would seem as though Kessel is willing to exhaust all options right now. In fact, he recently came out and said that he would be very interested in signing a PTO.

'Speaking of guys on the sidelines, not ready to retire yet, how about Phil Kessel? We mentioned him a few times last year. He didn't play in the NHL. He wanted to. He is willing, still, to try and help an NHL team. He's willing to sign a PTO if the fit is right.'

Kessell is just eight points away from hitting 1000 for his entire career. Having won three Stanley Cups, that 1000-point mark would certainly be the cherry on top of his career. However, it does seem as though he will have to wait quite a while for a team to finally bite. Perhaps an abundance of injuries throughout the preseason could get him a look. For now, however, he must wait.
