Predators acquire Jayden Struble from Canadiens

A 6’0″ left-shot defenseman, Struble spent four seasons at Northeastern University before turning pro in the Canadiens organization with the AHL’s Laval Rocket in the spring of 2023. He quickly emerged as a regular in Montreal in 2023-24, skating in his first 56 NHL games with the club that year.

In 174 games across parts of four seasons with the Canadiens, Struble has collected seven goals and 35 points while averaging 14:58 of ice time — a figure that has steadily decreased since he made his NHL debut. He’s been held pointless in 14 playoff games with Montreal.

Struble is the latest addition to a crowded Predators blue line led by Roman Josi and Brady Skjei. Beyond those two, the Predators have Hague, Nick Perbix, Adam Wilsby, Jack Ahcan, William Trudeau, Ryan Ufko, Ilya Lyubushkin, and now Struble jockeying to improve their positioning on their depth chart.

The Predators currently boast a 2-1-1 record through the first four games of the 2026-27 regular season. It remains to be seen whether Struble will be able to join them in time for when they return to action against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday.
