Time: 7:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)

How to Watch:

U.S. TV: NESN; ESPN+

Canada TV: Prime (Canada)

We’ve got another Atlantic Division matchup in this round of NHL predictions. This time, it’s the Bruins making their way to the Canadian capital to play the Senators. Goalie hugs will be on the menu as Jeremy Swayman and Linus Ullmark are the likely starters for their respective teams. Both clubs are coming off victories on Saturday night and are trying to build momentum.

Boston has a new bench boss in former NHLer Marco Sturm. The Bruins are coming off a 3-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday afternoon. Many have pegged Boston to have a rebuilding season. However, this team has shown some fight.

Ottawa had a comprehensive 7-1 rout of the Washington Capitals on Saturday night. The Sens have taken their last two games in a row heading into this Atlantic Division matchup.

Let’s take a look at this Monday Night Hockey matchup in this latest edition of NHL predictions.

The Bruins’ Story

Boston is in a bit of a transition period after trading away players like Brad Marchand, Trent Frederic, and others during the last trade deadline. The Bruins started the season off the season with a victory over the Capitals. However, Boston has been inconsistent since that promising start.

Swayman is the projected starter, but always check social media before locking in a daily fantasy starter. David Pastrnak continues to be the pace-setter for the Bruins as its team-leader in assists (8) and points (13). However, Morgan Geekie is pacing Boston in goals with six so far this campaign.

The Bruins score 3.2 goals per game, which is good enough for 14th coming into Sunday’s game. Boston gives up 3.5 goals per game, which is tied for 24th overall.

The Senators’ Story

Ottawa is slowly adjusting to life without captain Brady Tkachuk, who could be out for a significant amount of time. The Senators did win the last two games, which has given the team some hope that they can tread water at least.

Ullmark, who jumped into a scrum against the Capitals, is the expected starter for the Senators. Shane Pinto is the team’s leader in goals (8) and is tied with Dylan Cozens in points (9). Claude Giroux continues to defy time and is the team’s leader in assists with six.

Ottawa nets 3.33 goals per game, which is tied for 11th-best in the league. However, Ottawa does give up 3.89 goals per game, which is 30th in the league.

Prediction

These two teams have been inconsistent to start the campaign. However, Ottawa seems more equipped to withstand the loss of its captain. Boston has been streaky to start the campaign.

It’s always intriguing to see the goalie matchup between old teammates. However, Ullmark and Swayman have gone on divergent paths. Ullmark has helped the Senators return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but Swayman has had some difficulties in Beantown.

Prediction: Senators win 4-2.

Prop Bets of the Night

We close out this Monday Night Hockey edition of NHL predictions with some prop bets of the night. The over/under for this game is 6.5, and we like the under in this game.

As for individual prop bets, go with Pastrnak to get the over on 1.5 points for the Bruins. On the Senators’ side of things, take Tim Stutzle to get an anytime goal in this game.
