The New York Rangers are preparing for some big changes this off-season, and according to a top insider, that could lead them to shake up this core group.
This past season was a disaster for the New York Rangers, and with a new Head Coach in Mike Sullivan taking his place behind the bench, there's expected to be many changes for the group that led them in 2024/25.
According to Frank Seravalli, both Artemi Panarin and Chris Kreider could be on the trade block this summer, with the team potentially looking to shake up their core as they aim to get back into Stanley Cup contention.
Not only that, but Seravalli seems to hint that a reunion for Panarin in Chicago could potentially be on the horizon as the team look to put elite level talent around rising star Connor Bedard.
"Panarin's NHL career started in Chicago with the Blackhawks, and while that happened toward the end of their dynastic run, wouldn't it be fun to see him rejoin Chicago as it gears up to try to return with Connor Bedard?Chicago tried to speed up the process to get back to the playoffs last summer by surrounding Bedard and other young prospects with veteran players and out of all of them, only Ryan Donato seemed to really work out well. He wound up being their only 30-goal scorer while three other Chicago players had 20-or-more. In short, they need offense badly and Panarin would help address that."
At this point, it's unclear if they would want to trade just one of their big names or both, but given the disappointing way they performed and the team wanting to change things up under Mike Sullivan, don't be shocked to see some big moves coming out of The Big Apple in the coming weeks and months.
