The superstar Swedish defenseman Rasmus Dahlin is amid his seventh NHL season since being selected No. 1 overall in 2018 and subsequently being named captain of the Buffalo Sabres.

He is on his way to missing the playoffs for the seventh straight season.

The Sabres sit in last place of the Eastern Conference with 56 points in 64 games.

Buffalo shipped off Dylan Cozens at the trade deadline and according to reports, had fielded a trade request from Dahlin to send him away, too.

On the "Spittin' Chiclets" podcast earlier this week, analyst and former NHL player Paul Bissonnette shared that Dahlin informed general manager Kevyn Adams he’ll be “gonzos” if the Sabres don’t turn things around soon.

Though Dahlin rejected the reports that he had ever requested a trade.

Elliotte Friedman added clarity to what happened by explaining general manager Kevyn Adams had a meeting with Dahlin and the latter left the conversations with a change of heart about his future in Buffalo.

"So last week, Dahlin requested a meeting with Kevyn Adams, and I think he just wanted to know, 'What's our direction? What are you thinking, and where are we going?'" Friedman said on the "32 Thoughts" podcast on Friday. "I don't think any ultimatum was delivered at all. But the Sabres know their guys aren't going to be happy if they don't start turning things around. ... I think Dahlin really appreciated the opportunity to hear from the GM about where they were going.

"I heard that Dahlin left that meeting satisfied with what he heard."
